Algoa FM successfully conducted its 25th Big Walk for Cancer, celebrating unity and resilience against a formidable adversary. The event saw the participation of close to 12,000 individuals, making it the largest mass charity event in the region. The 5km walk was held at various locations including Gqeberha, East London, and George.

Presented by ISUZU Motors South Africa, the event is aimed at raising awareness about cancer while fostering a sense of communal support and unity. Algoa FM's Managing Director, Alfie Jay, expressed his delight at the incredible outpouring of support shown by the participants, stating that the Big Walk for Cancer serves as an opportunity for personal connections with their vast listener base.

This year's event proceeds will benefit Wings and Wishes and Reach for a Dream- two organisations dedicated to supporting children battling life-threatening conditions. Reach for a Dream fulfils the dreams of these children, whereas Wings and Wishes provide crucial transportation services for underprivileged children who require specialised medical treatments across the country.

Subsequent to the Big Walk, Reach for a Dream will receive laptops and tablets, aiding children enduring long-term treatment to stay connected with their families and continue their education remotely. Meanwhile, a donation towards Wings and Wishes will assist in their effort to provide transport to children who need to travel for lifesaving treatments.

ISUZU Motors South Africa, the presenting partner, upholds its strong tradition of supporting the Walk. By framing it as an opportunity to impact lives and embody their brand spirit, they further encouraged their employees to participate - more than 2,000 ISUZU employees and their families turned up at the event.

Alfie Jay expressed immense gratitude towards the communities of Nelson Mandela Bay, East London, and the Garden Route for the overwhelming response, hoping to engage even more participants next year.
