Johannesburg Tunnel Tragedy: Two City Power Workers Dead, Three Hospitalized

In a tragic turn of events, two City Power contractors have succumbed to fatalities, while three of their colleagues have been hospitalized following an incident where they were trapped in an underground tunnel in the heart of Johannesburg's bustling central business district. The contractors were attending to a dire situation caused by cable theft along Commissioner and Von Brandis Street when the calamity struck.

The confined space of the subterranean tunnel became a harrowing scene on Saturday, as these five individuals took on the daunting task of repairing damages from cable theft that had occurred the previous day. Despite the valiant effort of Johannesburg emergency services, who meticulously worked the scene through a manhole to reach the afflicted individuals, the final contractor was found to have passed away by the time rescue could be successful.
