Tragedy Strikes Gqeberha Community: Dietrich Primary School to Hold Memorial for Young Learner

The small community of Schauderville in Gqeberha has been enveloped in mourning after a devastating road accident claimed the life of a 14-year-old learner from Dietrich Primary School. The school has announced plans to hold a memorial service on Friday to pay tribute to the young life lost in the tragic incident.

Oyisa Breakfast, the learner, along with his mother, were both casualties in a catastrophic collision involving a car and a bakkie on the M17 road, connecting Motherwell and Kwazakhele. The accident occurred early on Saturday morning, leaving the local community and the entire Eastern Cape province in shock.

The collision did not just result in fatalities but also led to injuries for six other individuals, including two of Oyisa's brothers, who are currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital. The harrowing event is part of a series of traffic accidents that besieged the region over the weekend, cumulatively ending at least a dozen lives.

Dietrich Primary School’s principal, Chantel Milborrow, spoke with a heavy heart as she invited learners to partake in the commemorative event. She emphasized the significance of the memorial, not only to mourn the young soul but also to underscore the import of leading a purposeful life and making a mark on society. Milborrow's message to the students was clear—strive to live fully and create a legacy that others will follow.
