In what can only be described as a feather in South Africa's cap, Cape Town's Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden has been acclaimed as the best botanical garden in Africa, as decided by the World Luxury Travel Awards. This organisation focuses on accentuating, rewarding, and advertising superior services in the field of luxury travel and tourism worldwide.
According to Nontsikelelo Mpulo, the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Commercialisation at the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), the awards were determinant on popular votes, acknowledging several travel sites of different categories worldwide. "The Awards are decided by public voting, honouring travel facilities across diverse arrays of categories, provided on a global, continental, regional, and country basis," she elucidates.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, administrated and curated by SANBI, forms part of 11 national botanical gardens across the country, significantly contributing to the generation of information and knowledge, building capacity, policy guidance, and ensuring biodiversity conservation. It also plays an integral role at the National Zoological Garden in Pretoria.
Mpulo extolls, "Kirstenbosch is an oasis of tranquility, allowing people to appreciate the richness of South Africa's biodiversity. Winning the World Luxury Travel Award is a recognition of our team's relentless efforts and the joy we feel in sharing this garden with the world". She maintains that being crowned Africa's best has made Kirstenbosch an epitome of nature’s splendour combined with excellent service, creating lasting memories in the minds of visitors. Mpulo added, "The Kirstenbosch team takes immense pleasure in creating lifelong cherished moments for its visitors. We wholeheartedly invite everyone to revel in our garden's rich natural legacy and enjoy our exceptional service. We are absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious accolade."
