Beneficiaries preparing for the 46th annual Cape Town Cycle Tour are expecting the game-changing event, scheduled on Sunday, the 10th of March 2024, to draw attention to their causes and generate significant fundraising possibilities.
Among the key organisations partaking in the occasion are the Pedal Power Association and the Rotary Club of Claremont, both of which have been integral to redistributing nearly R50 million across the Peninsula within the past five years.
The tour's philanthropic focus is its backbone - not only funding its two partners but also a plethora of other charity groups taking part. These groups, bouncing with energy and unity, are a testament to the true spirit of the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Cape Town Cycle Tour has consistently been a platform for charities such as CANSA (Cancer Association of South Africa) and ILoveBoobies, where they put forth their initiatives and inspire attention and funding for their causes.
ILoveBoobies, making 2024 their seventh year as tour beneficiaries, remains dedicated to providing free breast examinations for financially, socially, or locationally disadvantaged women. The sponsorship received from the Cape Town Cycle Tour, described as transformative by the organisation's leading figure Nicky Webb, has facilitated testing of over 7,600 women so far.
CANSA, a longstanding bastion against cancer in South Africa since 1931, uses the tour to impart knowledge about maintaining a healthy lifestyle that can reduce cancer risk. Emphasising the possibilities of fund collection, Leillani Geduld asserted that the tour provides an excellent platform for CANSA to stay visibly committed to its cause and continue offering care and support to communities.
From helmet stickers to temporary tattoo activations, these charities have devised ways to promote their cause among the cyclists and spectators.
Both ILoveBoobies and CANSA are extending a call-to-action for all participants - to make their race participation count by contributing to a compelling cause.
