For two decades, Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) has set the pace in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors by consistently winning accolades that validate its commitment to excellence. The World Tourism Awards 2023 held in Dubai bore further witness to this excellence, as Cape Town International Airport, under Acsa's purview, clinched the illustrious Africa’s Leading Airport 2023 award.

This high-profile recognition pays homage to the unwavering dedication and commendable teamwork exhibited by Acsa stakeholders and partners. Together, they have amalgamated their expertise and spirit of enterprise to maintain the airport's superlative performance.

Cape Town International Airport's Cluster Regional GM, Mark Maclean, voiced his team's gratitude post the win: "Being named Africa’s leading airport for an unprecedented seventh time in a row is a recognition that leaves us humble. We are hopeful that it imparts a reassuring warmth and sense of welcome to our visitors, and promises a memorable experience," he expressed.

This accolade was achieved despite recent operational disruptions that included a hydraulic fuel spill and a consequential power outage at the airport. Besides this notable win, South Africa celebrated 24 other victories including Durban bagging Africa’s Leading Festival and Event Destination and Cape Town securing the Leading City Destination award. Green Hotels Prize was won by Cheetah Hotels, while Silvan Safari clinched the Leading Luxury Lodge award and Pezula Nature Hotel & Spa captured the commendation for sports travellers.
