Continuing its impressive growth trajectory, Radisson Hotel Group has bolstered its African hotel portfolio with the signing of eight new hotels, amassing over 1,600 rooms across the continent. This remarkable progress unfolds as part of the hotel group’s aggressive international expansion, which witnessed the addition of over 30,000 keys globally, adhering to its visionary transformation plan set into motion in 2018. With the plan's nearly 50% business growth, Radisson remains at the forefront of hospitality development.

Through strategic signings and openings, the renowned international hotel chain has infused the Middle East and African hospitality sectors with over 3,800 rooms, comprising hotels, resorts, and serviced apartments, further solidifying its eminent stance in the regions. This positive trend is set to surge with Radisson’s ambitious agenda to unveil 14 new hotels across various countries in both regions come 2024.

The signing of eight new establishments in Africa during 2023 alone hints at the hotel group's unwavering commitment to its growth objectives on the continent. These additions are instrumental to Radisson's target of escalating its African count from a milestone of 100 to a robust portfolio of 150 hotels.

Ramsay Rankoussi, Vice President of Business Development for Africa and Türkiye at Radisson Hotel Group, underscores the strategy:

“We have an exciting year ahead, with five hotel openings in Africa, reinforcing our market leader stance in our key countries such as Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa, but also maintaining the fastest growth across the continent in tangible openings.”

Egypt is poised to welcome Radisson Residences Cairo Heliopolis, the first standalone serviced apartments by the group, whereas Morocco anticipates the Q2 opening of Radisson Hotel Casablanca Gauthier. South Africa is not left behind, with Radisson Hotel Middelburg slated to join the ranks later this year as the 12th hotel in the country. This follows the success of the Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit, Africa's first safari hotel.

Furthermore, Rankoussi points to strategic expansion efforts into East Africa, pinpointing Kenya and Tanzania as priority markets. Aligning with global growth plans, resort openings are crucial to Radisson's vision. This includes the recent inauguration of Radisson Blu Resort Mosi-oa-Tunya in Livingstone and the Radisson Hotel Saint Denis on Reunion Island, marking the group's entry into new destinations.

Over the past three years, Radisson's vigorous expansion in Africa amounted to 20 hotel openings, resulting in a 15% annual growth of its African portfolio, serving as a testament to its successful and steadfast approach in one of the most dynamic hospitality markets in the world.
