In a revealing interview with the SABC, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, the former Member of Parliament for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), discussed his recent resignation from the party and the controversies surrounding it. Ndlozi's exit from the EFF was precipitated by his suspension, which was due to his failure to disclose fellow MP Floyd Shivambu’s plans to leave the party.

Floyd Shivambu, who was the deputy president of the EFF and one of its founding members, had confided in Ndlozi about his intentions to resign and join the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party. Ndlozi stated that he felt it was not his responsibility to inform the EFF leadership of Shivambu’s plans, as Shivambu had promised to do so himself at an appropriate time. This decision not to disclose the information stemmed from his understanding of the internal dynamics and trust among the party's top members.

The situation led to Ndlozi’s suspension when the EFF’s leadership accused him of withholding crucial party-sensitive information. They asserted that his silence constituted a breach of trust and hindered the leadership's ability to respond to internal shifts effectively. Ndlozi, however, contested the suspension, claiming it was not in line with the EFF’s constitutional procedures for disciplinary action. He argued that the party’s response was excessive and not grounded in any formal party regulation regarding such matters.

In the same discussion, Ndlozi addressed the allegations made against him concerning his supposed involvement with the MK Party. An intelligence report presented by the EFF suggested Ndlozi was part of an infiltration strategy into the EFF orchestrated by the MK Party, associated with former President Jacob Zuma. Ndlozi firmly denied these claims, stating unequivocally that he had no plans to join any factions associated with Zuma or the MK Party.

This controversy sheds light on the internal conflicts within the EFF, highlighting issues of trust, communication, and the enforcement of discipline within the party. It also marks a significant shift in the party’s structure, with the departure of key founding members such as Shivambu and Ndlozi. These developments could potentially impact the EFF's strategies and policies moving forward as they navigate these high-profile exits.

Ndlozi’s departure raises questions about the future path he will take in South African politics, if any, and how the EFF will stabilize its ranks after such impactful resignations. The political landscape continues to watch closely as these events unfold, offering a glimpse into the intricate and often tumultuous world of party politics in South Africa.
