The town of George will transform into a haven for car enthusiasts as it hosts the reimagined one-day 2025 George Old Car Show (GOCS) on February 8. Set against the quaint backdrop of Eden Technical High School grounds, this event is expected to allure over 1,000 vintage and classic cars, celebrating the engineering marvels from a bygone era.

Marking an annual tradition, the show will kick off with the much-anticipated "Vettoer", a tour that treats participants to a mesmerizing journey culminating at the GOCS venue on February 7. This pre-show event is known for its display of finely aged veteran vehicles and sets the perfect opening for the main event.

The scenic GOCS eSCape Tour and Rally, immediately following the show on February 9, invites participants for an extended adventure. This four-day journey uncovers the breathtaking landscapes of Southern Cape, from Gourikwa Nature Reserve to Montagu. Organized by the Southern Cape Old Car Club and regulated by the SA Vintage and Veteran Association and Motorsport SA, the rally brings a competitive twist to the tour with timed challenges adjusted for the age of the participating vehicles.

During the show day itself, the spotlight will shine on the crème de la crème of British automotive royalty, featuring illustrious names such as Bentley and Rolls-Royce. A multitude of vehicles from other major car-producing nations, like Germany, Italy, and the US, will also grace the event. Additionally, vintage and classic motorcycles, old tractors, trucks, and stationary engines will paint a comprehensive picture of historical and modern engineering.

A unique addition this year will be the celebration of the Mercedes-Benz W108 series' 60th anniversary, alongside a splendid display of modern supercars, including those from Ferrari and Porsche stables. Local dealerships will add flair to the show with exhibitions of contemporary car models.

The event offers an interactive platform for car clubs, collectors, and enthusiasts to share their passion and knowledge. While the competitive rally tests precision and speed, the non-competitive tour aspect caters to those keen on a leisurely drive amid alluring landscapes with likeminded aficionados.

With tickets available through iTickets, the show is accessible to all, promising a family-friendly environment with free entry for children. Enthusiasts wishing to exhibit vintage, veteran, or classic cars are encouraged to pre-register via the Southern Cape Old Car Club's website at www.scocc.co.za ensuring a spot in this prestigious assembly.
