Tensions Mount as EFF's Thambo Accuses Former President Zuma of Betrayal and Division

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), South Africa's vocal opposition party, is intensifying its campaign against former President Jacob Zuma, highlighting allegations of past misdeeds and divisiveness. Sinawo Thambo, EFF’s national spokesperson, has taken to social media platform X, launching a series of scathing criticisms against Zuma's purported failures both within the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) military wing and his later political career.

Thambo's accusations focus heavily on the alleged detention, torture, and poisoning of Thami Zulu, a late MK cadre, which reportedly took place under the watch of a counter-intelligence unit led by Zuma during their exile period. This unit, known as Mbokodo, has been described as instrumental in Zulu's ill-treatment due to internal factional battles. These claims were supported by testimonies from Zulu's parents at a Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearing, shedding light on a dark chapter of internal conflict within the ANC's military wing.

Adding to the controversy, Thambo highlighted Zuma's questionable associations in the post-apartheid era, including meetings with Clive Derby-Lewis, convicted for the murder of Chris Hani, and apartheid-era police officer Eugene De Kock.
