Carl Pophaim, the Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, announced the staffing increase, set to be a game-changer in handling approximately 30,000 housing-related enquiries that flood in annually.


Serving as lifelines for Cape Town residents, the call centre agents provide indispensable guidance on a multitude of housing exigencies. They navigate queries ranging from housing needs database information, application processes, public housing rental support, to the issuance and historic inquiries of title deeds. The agents also field maintenance and repair questions for public housing along with urgent housing-related problems.


With the addition of newly appointed agents, there's an air of optimism as the Human Settlements Directorate gears up to extend its reach and augment service levels. "The team of experts are on hand to help residents with public housing rental queries, rental relief, housing opportunity applications and registering on the city’s housing needs database for affordable housing across the city,” Pophaim expressed with enthusiasm.
