The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Free State has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance with valuable information that might lead to the apprehension and subsequent prosecution of perpetrators involved in a series of heinous crimes that rocked three local communities over the past week.

In a distressing discovery on the 12th of July, around noon, the body of 21-year-old Bonisile Mkwanazi was found by a resident collecting firewood at Plot D in Warden. Mkwanazi, who had been reported missing since the 5th of July, was uncovered under a tree, concealed with stones in a chilling scene suggestive of foul play. The SAPS are seeking leads and have encouraged anyone with information to contact Detective Warrant Officer Hlatswayo directly or use the anonymous tips service, Crime Stop.

Further adding to the spate of violence, two foreign nationals became victims of a brutal attack at Makholokweng Village in Harrismith on the same day. The incident occurred in the evening when three suspects barged into a tuck shop owned by the victims and administered fatal stab wounds without provocation. Allie Hussain, 27, perished due to his injuries, while his companion, 33-year-old Yasir Iqbal, survived the assault but sustained serious injuries. The assailants absconded with two mobile phones. Lieutenant Colonel Sandile Maphalala is the contact point for any leads related to this tragic case.

Only days later, the Tseki district was marred by additional violence when police were alerted to the fatal shooting of another foreign national at the Leratong grazing field. The victim's identity has not been disclosed, but authorities confirmed that the suspect made an escape on foot, causing them to launch a full investigation. Members of the community aware of any details that could shed light on this brutal murder are encouraged to contact Tseki Detective Captain Takane.

These three separate but equally alarming murder incidents underscore the urgency for community participation in unraveling the events and bringing the culprits to justice. The SAPS's plea emphasizes the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the public to ensure safety and prevent further tragedy.

Social cohesion and public assistance are paramount in solving crimes that shake communities to their core. The SAPS remains committed to uncovering the truth and securing justice for the victims and their families, and it it is hoped that community members will step forward with any pertinent information that can assist these investigations.
