In an era marked by nuanced challenges and a rapidly evolving global landscape, the crusade against corruption demands a collective approach, integrating the dynamism and fresh perspectives of younger generations. Reflecting this imperative, the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) joined forces with the Hong Kong International Academy Against Corruption (HKIAAC) to deliver a pivotal webinar, specifically tailored to nurture and empower the future vanguards of the anti-corruption realm.

The webinar, held on July 4, 2024, was a clarion call to arm promising young individuals with the requisite skills and knowledge to continue the legacy of integrity and probity. Themed "Nurturing and Empowering Our Future Leaders in Anti-Corruption Work: Stories from the Field," this event drew over 400 participants from more than 70 different global organizations, all sharing a unified goal: to eradicate corruption.

IAACA Secretary-General Mr. Kenneth Wong set the tone during the opening segment, with a stirring address on the significance of involving youth in maintaining the momentum of anti-corruption movements. With an evergreen vision, Wong underscored IAACA’s dedication to this cause, advocating for a seamless transition of responsibilities to the young leaders waiting in the wings.

The webinar featured an esteemed panel, including experts from the UNODC, NTA of Greece, EACC of Kenya, and the MACC, along with ICAC. The speakers imparted valuable insights on various themes such as devising educational frameworks, empowering the youth through leadership programs, and fostering international connections to enhance their role in battling corruption.

This dialogue marks the commencement of a broader series of initiatives linked to the comprehensive “Policy Guide for National Anti-Corruption Authorities on Meaningful Youth Engagement in Anti-Corruption Work”, which was penned in collaboration by the IAACA, ICAC, and UNODC. This document serves as a touchstone for global entities dedicated to this cause, providing practical guidelines and innovative tactics to engage young minds effectively.

The spirit of collaboration exuded through this webinar reflects IAACA’s ongoing commitment to galvanizing partnerships in anti-corruption worldwide. As a beacon of collective energy and intelligence, IAACA invites institutions to reach out to its Secretariat to explore synergistic opportunities.

With this promising initiative, the ground is set for fostering a cadre of young, ethical leaders who are ready to carry the torch of anti-corruption into a bright and unblemished future.
