In a continued effort to clamp down on criminal activities, Limpopo police forces have made a fruitful breakthrough by arresting two individuals on separate charges - one for attempted murder and the other for possession of a stolen vehicle. The arrests, which took place on 12 July 2024, also led to the discovery of stolen cellphones, signaling a considerable victory for the police in their ongoing battle against crime.

The coordinated operations involved several law enforcement units including the Groblersdal Crime Intelligence, Task Teams from Nebo and Jane Furse, as well as the Limpopo Tactical Response Team. It was the intelligence gathered by these teams that set the stage for this successful operation, allowing the police to track down and arrest the culprits.

One of the two apprehended, a 38-year-old man considered a wanted suspect, was linked to an attempted murder case from November 2023. His capture took place in Moteti. He is expected to be connected to additional cases across the Mpumalanga province.

Simultaneously, another man, aged 37, was seized for being in possession of what is believed to be a stolen Suzuki Swift. He was nabbed while traveling from Marble Hall to Moteti on the R573. The preliminary investigation tied the vehicle to a theft reported earlier in December 2023 at the Sinoville area in Pretoria.

Further to these arrests, law enforcement also managed to recover five Redmi cellphones at Senotlolo village in the Vaalbank, Mpumalanga. The seizure of these phones is linked to an individual already in custody in connection with a business robbery that was executed in the Jane Furse policing area in May 2024.

The police's effort in recovering stolen property and detaining suspects promotes a safer community environment and showcases the efficient cooperation among the various police units and intelligence teams. The suspects involved in the recent arrests will face their initial court appearance at the Siyabuswa Magistrate’s Court.

Such operations highlight the steadfast commitment of South African Police Services to tackle crime head-on and bring perpetrators to justice. The ongoing investigations look to further dismantle criminal networks and bring to light any other crimes these individuals may be connected to.
