George Municipality Enhances Community Safety with Newly Trained Peace Officers and Wardens

The George Municipality has made significant strides in bolstering its law enforcement capabilities. Seventeen dedicated Community Safety staff members, including land invasion and existing law enforcement officers, have now emerged as fully trained Peace Officers and Wardens. This transformative initiative took place from June 3 to June 29, 2024, under the tutelage of the City of Cape Town's Metro Police Services Training & Development Programme.

The multifaceted training encompassed three key areas: Professional Conduct, Peace Officer & Warden Training, and Point Duty. Throughout the rigorous sessions, participants ingrained practical knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the pivotal roles and functions these positions entrench within the community. Lee-Ann Meiring, the Senior Manager for Community Safety at the George Municipality, expressed confidence in the training's positive outcome. She emphasized how it fortifies the municipal staff with the legal authority and expertise to enforce by-laws effectively.

The accreditation and assessment of the course have certified all the participants as 'competent,' which not only elevates the standards of law enforcement within the George Municipality but also echoes the municipality's longstanding commitment to public safety and order.
