In a concerning development, the Knysna Police are seeking assistance from the public after two men were reported missing in separate incidents in recent months. The community’s urgent help is needed to locate 32-year-old Siyavuya Mbuli and 52-year-old Michael Madyo, known as Mike. Both men are residents of Knysa, a picturesque town along South Africa’s famed Garden Route.
The first case involves Siyavuya Mbuli from Joodsekamp, who has not been seen since the 4th of May, 2024. After repeated efforts to locate him yielded no results, his family reported his disappearance to the authorities on the 5th of July, 2024. Mbuli is described as last being seen dressed in olive green cargo shorts, a beige t-shirt, and cream-colored tekkies.
In the second case, Michael Madyo, a resident of White Location in Knysa, was last known to have left his home in May 2024 and has not returned since. His next of kin reported him missing on the 2nd of July, 2024. Madyo is affectionately known as Mike in the community.
Local authorities, including the Knysna police, K9 search and rescue teams, SANPARKS, EMS Metro, and Urban Search and Rescue, have dedicated considerable resources to locating these two men. Despite the efforts, their current whereabouts remain unknown, prompting a plea for public involvement.
Warrant Officer James Visagie, the case's lead investigator, is calling on anyone with information about the whereabouts of either Mbuli or Madyo to come forward. Information that may seem trivial to the public could prove vital in these cases. The police have emphasized that the sooner such information is provided, the better the chances of bringing these men back to their concerned families.
The authorities have provided several means of communication for the public to relay any leads. Officer Visagie can be reached directly by phone at 044 302 6652 or 073 244 6154. For those who wish to remain anonymous, information can be shared via the toll-free Crime Stop number, 08600 10111, or through the MySAPS app which allows members of the public to send tips without revealing their identity.
As time is of the essence in missing person’s cases, the Knysna police are emphasizing the urgency of these searches. The community's help is not just requested but needed in a situation where every second counts. The community's eyes and ears can make a real difference in bringing these men home.
