As Gauteng Weather, a regional weather service, has detailed, we are in the midst of a heatwave that began this past week and will persistently serve up temperatures cresting in the high thirties, at least until the following Tuesday. This temperature spike is set to rattle various localities across the province—Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Vereeniging are all anticipating sweltering days ahead.

Not only is the province swathed in heat, but SAWS has also flagged potential fire threats. In their public communiqué, they stated that "extreme high fire danger conditions" are anticipated across the Northern Cape, central and western Free State, as well as parts of North West.
