China Denounces Gaza Conflict as Tragedy to Humanity, Calls for Urgent Ceasefire

Beijing - As the war in Gaza surpasses the half-year mark with no resolution in sight, China has labeled the conflict as an affront to global humanity and stability. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a press briefing in Beijing, emphatically described the war as a "disgrace to civilisation" urging for an expedited ceasefire and international intervention to mitigate the dire humanitarian situation.

The conflict, which stems from an initial strike by Hamas militants on October 7, has plunged Gaza into a dire state of destruction and despair. Amid these distressing health metrics, a 15-year-old girl recently lost her life at Gaza City's Al-Shifa Hospital, highlighting the severity of the health and nutrition crisis. Ashraf al-Qudra, the health ministry spokesman, sounded an urgent plea for increased humanitarian assistance and medical provisions, cautioning that without immediate intervention, thousands more lives are at risk.

Civilians in Gaza are enduring immense hardships, with many displaced and in dire need of basic necessities. In Rafah, lines of people await the distribution of food aid, with complaints surfacing over the quantity and diversity of the supplies provided, which fall far short of their needs. In a rare moment of respite, inhabitants of Khan Yunis have been able to revisit their homes temporarily, salvaging whatever remains after reported Israeli withdrawals, to which the army has not offered confirmation as of yet.

The global community, led by powers such as China, is echoing a united call to action. The message is clear: immediate ceasefire, unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid, and the restoration of peace and order must be the overriding objectives.
