Mr Ibu's Children Arrested for Alleged Embezzlement of Funds Intended for His Medical Treatment

A substantial amount of ₦55 million, approximately $60,700 or £47,800, meant for Mr Ibu's medical expenses, was allegedly stolen. This pot of money consisted of donations generously made by Mr Ibu's fans and well-wishers after the actor underwent significant health struggles last year, which was publicly detailed by his family.

The renowned actor, beloved across Nigeria and the diaspora for his roles in comedic Nollywood films, suffered a lengthy illness that led to multiple surgical procedures and the amputation of one of his legs. These health challenges created a wave of support as fans rallied to contribute financially to his recovery efforts.

In response to the allegations and subsequent arrests, the police have reported the recovery of ₦50 million of the stolen funds.
