On February 10, 2023, the South African music scene took a grave hit when AKA and his friend, Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane, were fatally shot outside a Durban restaurant. The KwaZulu-Natal police swiftly launched a complex investigation which led to the arrest of Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle Ndimande.
