The South African music industry and fans alike remain in shock following the murder of renowned rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes. However, the arrest of five individuals allegedly linked to the tragic incident has not provided closure to AKA's grieving father, Tony Forbes. He suggested to reporters that the true architect behind the crime is still at large.

On February 10, 2023, the South African music scene took a grave hit when AKA and his friend, Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane, were fatally shot outside a Durban restaurant. The KwaZulu-Natal police swiftly launched a complex investigation which led to the arrest of Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle Ndimande. They face a slew of charges including murder and unlawful possession of firearms.

The term 'mastermind' has been a focal point for Tony Forbes, who perceives a distinction between the alleged coordinator of the crime and the one who orchestrated it. His quest for answers revolves around the origins of the R800,000 said to have been paid for the hit. He insisted that the banking trail must hold the key to unveiling the ultimate perpetrator.

With two suspects detained in eSwatini and pending extradition, the South African Justice Department has assumed control of their return. Police Minister Bheki Cele shed light on the involvement of the Department of Home Affairs in such complex international processes.

Tony Forbes emphasized the family's awareness of the intricate nature of the judicial proceedings and expressed his lack of surprise concerning potential delays caused by the extradition.

The pursuit of justice is set to continue, with the case postponed to early March for additional investigation and bail determination. Expected legal procedural delays mean that arguments for and against bail will span across several dates later in March.

This case has drawn significant police attention, including the minister's open rejection of the notion that the suspects fled to eSwatini due to fears over taxi-related violence. Cele's stance reframed the narrative, focusing on the importance of responsible citizenship when called upon by law enforcement.

Amidst the speculation and judicial complexities, one thing remains clear — a family is desperate for justice, and a father's search for truth persists with undiminished vigor.
