ISP Afrihost communicated with its customers at 7.01am, confirming the high impact of the outage and specified the hit areas: Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West, and Limpopo. In its announcement, Afrihost described the situation as a "High impact" event, and clients were forewarned of the possibility of entirely losing their internet connections.


In efforts to manage customer concerns, MetroFibre issued an official statement on their website disclosing the cause of the disruption—a power equipment failure at Teraco Isando—and the current undertakings to resolve it with their engineers working assiduously to restore the service. Meanwhile, the company committed to keeping its clientele updated as they navigate the issue.


It's worth noting that Vox, another prominent Internet service provider (ISP) in South Africa, documented additional interruptions within their networking areas, specifically highlighting KwaZulu-Natal—a province not initially mentioned by MetroFibre.
