Shocking Allegations Implicate Kelly Khumalo in Senzo Meyiwa Murder Case

The murder case of South African soccer star Senzo Meyiwa has taken a dramatic turn as two men accused of the killing have implicated his former girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, in orchestrating his death. In a statement read at the Pretoria High Court, the lead investigator, Brig Bongani Gininda, shared allegations that Khumalo had instructed the shooting of Meyiwa in October 2014.

Senzo Meyiwa, who was a popular goalkeeper and captain for the South African team Orlando Pirates, as well as the national team, was shot dead in what appeared to be a robbery gone wrong at Khumalo’s mother's house in Vosloorus. However, the recent statements from the accused suggest a more sinister motive, vaguely rooted in their romantic relationship and personal issues.

Kelly Khumalo, a prominent figure in the South African music industry and the mother of Meyiwa’s child, has been at the center of the public’s scrutiny since the incident. The fresh allegations are based on the testimony of two accused, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, who have painted Khumalo as the “trigger point” in a plot to assassinate Meyiwa.

During the investigations, it was unearthed that Khumalo failed to disclose crucial cellphone numbers to the police. Further scrutiny revealed a connection between her phone and the accused hitmen, including shared images of a bag full of money that raised suspicions about the nature of their relationship.

The testimony suggested longstanding animosity, with records indicating that Kelly Khumalo had expressed a desire to "get rid of" Meyiwa as early as 2013. Gininda’s statement claimed that after the murder, instead of calling emergency services, Khumalo placed numerous calls to different individuals.

Additionally, the investigator highlighted that Sibiya and Ntanzi had sought cleansing from a witch doctor, a ritual Khumalo allegedly undertook as well after Meyiwa’s death. The accused pointed to a silver VW Polo driven by Ntuli, another alleged conspirator, as the getaway vehicle.

Sibiya and Ntanzi’s confessions put forth distressing details, with Sibiya allegedly indicting Khumalo for the order to carry out the hit and recognizing the crime scene. Further, it was disclosed that Mthobisi Mncube, another accused, matched witness descriptions as the one who fired the fatal shot.

Mncube, already serving a prison sentence for a separate murder, was tied to the crime through ballistic evidence that linked the firearm used in both murders. Photographs of Mncube with distinctive features such as a gold tooth, dreadlocks, and selfies taken on the day of the murder supported this connection.

The unraveling of these allegations is a significant development in a case that has captivated and divided public opinion in South Africa for years. The accused individuals, described as hitmen typically involved in taxi wars, represent a complex network of crime and violence that has now extended into the sphere of celebrity and sports.
