A viral video, conspicuously shared by Dr Hayes himself, purports to showcase the moment Farmer engaged physically with Hayes, ultimately leading to Slater administering a slap.

This controversial episode unfolded outside a municipal sports complex on a Tuesday evening, delineating a scenario wherein Dr Hayes was purportedly fulfilling his obligations in surveying a municipal property. It had been reported that the facility was under unauthorized occupation with unsubstantiated allegations of illegal alcohol sales. Mayor Ruben Richards of Cederberg commented on the matter, indicating that Dr Hayes was performing his duties without malice and reaffirmed the necessity of upholding due process even as Council is in recess.

Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi confirmed that an assault case has been registered and is actively under scrutiny.
