South Africa's largest mobile operators have confirmed their plans to offer sweeping Black Friday deals for 2023. The news was divulged to MyBroadband, with the first leading operator, Vodacom, sharing that they will commence their Black Friday promotions on 7 November, extending to 6 December. Customers can look forward to big savings, with proposed discounts exceeding a staggering 75% off selected items. These will range from generous data bundles to highly competitive business Internet LTE plans.
These deals will be offered in-store and via online platforms. Black Friday 2022 saw Vodacom enticing customers with notable deals, including an unlimited 10Mbps Home Internet package for just R299 per month, and an unrestricted 1TB LTE package for R349 per month. The best way to track these deals is through the Vodacom app, where many of their Black Friday offers can be found at the VodaBucks store. However, buyers are advised to act quickly as popular products such as gaming consoles and televisions stock out rapidly.
MTN, another key player, will host its Black Friday promotions from 17 November until 4 December. The executive for sustainability and corporate affairs at MTN, Jacqui O'Sullivan, stated that customers should anticipate "compelling and best value" deals. In the previous year, MTN offered discounts peaking at 60% off on various product categories including PayAsYouGo, MyMTNHome contracts, and business deals.
Lastly, the country's third-largest network, Telkom, will be commencing its Black Friday promotions on 17 November, with businesses looking forward to attractive fibre and LTE packages. The sale will last until 1 December.
