MultiChoice South Africa has offered its apologies for a billing disorder regarding its recently advertised R19.95 DStv Access offer which was formulated to allow rugby lovers to view the anticipated 2023 Rugby World Cup final. The billing chaos led to several disgruntled subscribers expressing their frustration on social media platforms, as consumers were abruptly saddled with heightened charges contrary to the advertised price.
Originating last week, the pay-TV operator started to promote a R19.95 once-off offer for viewers to enjoy the Saturday final between the celebrated Springboks of South Africa and New Zealand on the DStv Access streaming platform. The R19.95 price tag was a symbolic commemoration of the year 1995, a year globally recognised for when South Africa first triumphed in the Rugby World Cup.
However, the intended celebratory offer soon led to confusion and anger among customers when they discovered their bills reflecting larger than expected amounts. In response to the resulting uproar, MultiChoice made an official statement, assuring subscribers who were erroneously overcharged that they won't be expected to bear the unexpected cost.
