The triumph of the recent Rugby World Cup victory was tasted in every corner of South Africa. For the residents of Zwide, a township in Gqeberha where Springbok's captain, Siya Kolisi, was raised, the victory bore a deeper significance. Their pride and joy culminated in a grand celebration steered by over 500 pupils from Kolisi's former primary school, Emsengeni, reflecting the unity and jubilation of the community they stand for.
On Monday, with the accompaniment of more than 30 Emsengeni Primary School educators, these pupils took to the streets of the township. The celebration took form in an energetic march and impressive drill, manifesting their elation over the Boks' nail-biting victory against the All Blacks in the final match of the Rugby World Cup. This march marked a significant moment for Zwide, echoing in their streets their rise from humble beginnings to the global stage, personified by the inspirational journey of their beloved Siya Kolisi.
