Western Cape Government Collaborates with Hisense for New Technological Evolution Museum

An exciting partnership has been announced between the Western Cape Government (WCG) and Hisense South Africa for the establishment of a Tevolution ("tech-evolution") Museum in Cape Town. The venture, born from a 25-year standing agreement with Shandong Province, aims to bring economic growth through tourism and foster new career opportunities for young individuals.

Hisense, the globally renowned appliance and electronics giant, already has an established presence in the Atlantis area of Cape Town and is set to expand this further through the museum initiative. In collaboration with the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), Hisense will ensure the museum reflects the rich technological heritage of the region while simultaneously providing a forward-looking, contemporary vision of the future.

The Department of Premier's Director-General, Harry Malila, outlined some of the museum's exciting features: narrating the journey of household appliances in South Africa, the museum would also provide an art studio, aiming to equip youth with necessary skills to excel in technology, animation, coding and other tech-related spheres.

Besides, the envisaged museum is expected to bring innovative exhibitions to tourists using cutting-edge technology, showcasing Cape Town’s cultural heritage in the most interactive way possible. The DCAS has been assigned the responsibility to identify potential sites for the museum.

Guy Redman, the Head of the Department for Cultural Affairs and Sport, visualised the museum as a source of inspiration for South Africans to imagine and create their future. Simultaneously, the MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, praised the developing relationship between the two governments and its potential for creating fresh economic opportunities for the youth.
