The DHL Stormers put on a terrific display of attacking rugby, as they dominated their contest against the Scarlets from Wales, dealing out a devastating 52-7 defeat at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch on Thursday night.
The Stormers' new recruit Ben Loader had a memorable first outing, clinching his debut try for the team as they managed to get the edge over the Scarlets. The match saw some superb performances from several Stormers' players; most notably loose forward Marcel Theunissen, who showcased his match-winning skills with a first-half brace that helped John Dobson’s side to gain a significant 31-7 halftime lead.
Debutant Courtnall Skosan also made his mark by scoring a try, thanks to a spectacular pass from Loader, accumulating a total of half-century points for the hosts.
Unfortunately, the win came at a price, with well-experienced centre Ruhan Nel leaving the field after a significant injury scare. Yet, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu's stellar performance on attack, for which he was awarded Man of the Match, somewhat made up for the loss.
Set to continue their winning momentum, the DHL Stormers are gearing up to face the Glasgow Warriors at the Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland on Friday, 3 November for week three of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, with kickoff scheduled for 9:35 PM.
