A new wave of green prosperity blooms in KwaZulu-Natal. Local cultivators of cannabis are set to gain substantial revenue from the resurgence of the industry. As per latest evaluations, the cannabis sector in the area is pegged to be worth over a whopping R100 billion.

Seeing the opportunity to foster economic growth and uplift the local community, the provincial government is set on capitalizing on this lucrative industry. At the forefront of this initiative is Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

Dube-Ncube conveyed the government's plan to distribute a total of 600 licenses to qualified applicants seeking to plant and cultivate cannabis. This move holds immense promise for the province, both economically and socially.

"We're going to be giving out 600 licenses to people that applied and they've qualified to plant and cultivate which is quite exciting," Dube-Ncube stated. She went on to emphasize the government's intention of ensuring the entire value chain of the cannabis industry remains within the community.

By harnessing the potential of the blossoming cannabis sector, KwaZulu-Natal is taking a leap toward a high revenue future while promoting local entrepreneurship in the province.
