This October sees the colourful return of the family-friendly Cape Town Kite Festival, hopeful kites flying high against the blue expanse. This annual event, brought to life by Cape Mental Health, serves to bring forth awareness regarding mental health, a cause that is growing ever significant in contemporary times. On the shores of Melkbosstrand Beach, a spectrum of kite designs showcased against the theme 'The Sky Is Your Canvas', will fill the Cape skies with a beautiful message of hope and resilience.
Now in its impactful 29th year, the Cape Mental Health's festival strives to amass funds in order to deliver crucially needed mental healthcare for those who require it most. The non-profit's CEO, Dr. Ingrid Daniels reinforces the festival's message stating that kites soaring against tough winds symbolise hope, courage and endless possibilities in the face of hardship.
On a different note, the Boatica Cape Town event, previously the Cape Town International Boat Show, displays Africa's largest boating exhibition on the V&A Waterfront. The event offers interactive on-water products, demonstrations, sailing clinics for budding sailors, and a chance to get up close and personal with racing yachts. Do not miss the Boatica Cape Town Ocean Globe Race and the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, slated for early November.
