Mzansi's esteemed female DJs, Thuli P and Slender Da Dancing DJ, are joining forces to transform the dynamics of the local music industry. Under the moniker '2Faced', their aim is not only to introduce a unique sound to the scene but also demonstrate that women can work harmoniously without any career-driven discord.
The idea sparked during their collaboration at the Scorpion Kings Summer Fest, held at Ramblers Club in Bloemfontein, Free State, on Saturday, 14 October. The synergy they discovered on stage sparked the inspiration to create something bigger together.
Both artists have made a significant impact separately in the industry, with Thuli P rising to fame playing Namhla Diale on Generation before venturing into her DJ career. Similarly, Slender Da Dancing DJ, also known as Sithabile Zungu, caught the limelight as DJ Tira’s dancer. They both cater to different genres and lead different lives, but they believe combining their distinct styles will bring a fresh edge to the music industry.
"Thuli P respectively reached out to DJ Tira for a female DJ recommendation for gqom music, and I was selected. I didn't hesitate to seize this unique opportunity," commented Slender Da Dancing DJ.
The blend of gqom and amapiano music in their sets is what will set 2Faced apart from other DJ acts, offering a pioneering musical style in the industry.
