'Boetie Boer: Inside The Mind Of A Monster' – Horrifying Journey Into the Abyss of South Africa's Notorious Serial Killer Now On Showmax

A bone-chilling expedition into the twisted mind of South Africa's notorious serial killer, Stewart Wilken, also known as Boetie Boer, has finally made its way to Showmax. The Showmax Original true crime series brings to light the horror embodied by Wilken, who was convicted for 10 murders and five cases of sodomy during his seven-year killing spree from 1990 to 1997.

Unlike the stereotypical serial killer, Wilken's horrific deeds lacked a precise modus operandi. His victims, tragically, were predominantly female sex workers and young boys. Perhaps the most horrifying instance of Wilken's savagery was when he allegedly murdered his daughter Wuane, stating that he wanted to send her soul to God in light of her supposed sexual abuse by her stepfather.

'Boetie Boer: Inside The Mind Of A Monster,' a brutally raw and vivid portrayal of Wilken's reign of terror, is now available on Showmax. Directed by Jasyn Howes, the five-part series, rating 18(SV)LVP, promises to be the platform's most harrowing true crime series to date.

To fuel the narrative, Howes interacted directly with Wilken in prison. Describing his encounter, Howes says, “He’s just a man. An old man, with no teeth, bifocal glasses, and a bad arm.” Despite the seemingly harmless facade, Howes admits to feeling unsettled by the interaction. The series is actively available, with new episodes uploading every Wednesday till November 15, 2023.
