A consortium of global sporting icons, including golf champion Rory McIlroy, influential American football quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and Liverpool's dynamic defender Trent Alexander-Arnold have shown their ambitious strides off the field by investing a cumulative $211 million into world-renowned Formula One team, Alpine Racing.
This high-profile investment group, convened by leading investment firm, Otro Capital, also boasts an eclectic mix of personalities including Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce, who is also well-known as pop sensation Taylor Swift's boyfriend, former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, and ex-Manchester United footballer Juan Mata.
The spotlight on Alpine has been gleaming since June when Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Michael B. Jordan became part of the original consortium that acquired a 24 percent stake in the team.
Speaking on his commitment towards the venture, Rory McIlroy expressed, "Passion for excellence on the golf course has led me to admire the same pursuit in Formula One. Partnering with Otro Capital in Alpine F1 is an exhilirating venture that unites my love for sports, competition, and the relentless drive to be the best."
With Alpine's current standing at sixth in the F1 constructors' championship with five more 2023 season races remaining, this financial injection is expected to drive the team's push towards the pinnacle of Formula One racing. Alec Scheiner of Otro Capital envisions this splendid synergy as the embodiment of "best-in-class investors, athletes, entertainers and entrepreneurs" who are all working concertedly towards elevating the Alpine F1 team to new heights of success.
