A packed Stade de France stood witness on Sunday night to a high-stakes Rugby World Cup 2023 Quarter-final match that saw the Springboks secure a hard-earned 29-28 victory against hosts France, keeping their aspirations of a record fourth World Cup title intact.

Despite France’s electrifying start, scoring in the fourth minute itself, the Boks demonstrated grit and resolve as they embarked on a ’tit-for-tat‘ scoring streak. This intense display of rugby saw six tries in the opening half, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

Contributing to the Boks scorecard were Kurt-Lee Arendse, Damien de Allende, Cheslin Kolbe, and Eben Etzebeth. The latter's powerful 68th-minute feat saw him carrying three formidable French defenders over the line. The flyhalf duo of Mannie Libbok and Handre Pollard augmented the scoreboard with two and one conversions, respectively, with Pollard further goaling a 52-meter penalty.

Post-match, Captain Siya Kolisi expressed his admiration for the French team as well as the home crowd. He showered praises on his own team and the support staff, crediting the substitute players who brought about a vital difference and attributing the victory to the constant support from their fans back home.

The Springboks are now all set for their upcoming match against England in a semi-final rematch of the 2019 final, anticipating a fiery battle next Saturday.
