A tragic turn of events in the quaint town of Mossel Bay has shocked the community and spurred police into intense action. On Thursday, a small establishment on Marlin Street, extension 13, became the scene of a chilling crime when four unknown assailants stormed the business premises.

Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, acting as spokesperson for the SAPS (South African Police Service), relayed the harrowing details of the incident. The culprits, unidentified at present, allegedly entered the shop shortly before 8 p.m. and discharged several rounds of ammunition. Upon arrival, the law enforcement officers discovered a 65-year-old man, gravely injured, just outside the boutique, while a 36-year-old foreign national was found inside, also wounded.

Witness reports substantiate the sequence of events, confirming the flight of the four miscreants post the shooting spree. The immediate aftermath saw the wounded duo rushed to the hospital, where the elder of the two unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The remaining victim was subsequently transferred to a hospital in George, details of his condition remain undisclosed.

Officer Kapp reported that in response to the tragic incident, the Da Gamaskop SAPS, local law enforcement, have marshalled all possible resources to expedite the unfolding investigation. They are ardently appealing to the public to come forward with any relevant information that might aid the probe and lead to the successful apprehension and conviction of the criminals involved. Information can be directed to the office of Sergeant Carelse at contact numbers 044 606 2212 or 044 606 2200.
