The bewildering case surrounding Vicki Terblanche's murder was illuminated as the 26-page charge sheet encapsulated the elaborate plots allegedly executed by Vicki's estranged husband, Arnold Terblanche and boyfriend, Reinhardt Leach. The incident twisted into a chilling saga surfaced during the Gqeberha High Court session held on Wednesday. Both accused are juggling ten charges each, including two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, defeating the course of justice, and drug possession.

The state is banking on 48 witnesses to aid in the delivery of justice including Terblanche's ex-girlfriend, Krystal and Zephton Pretorius-Zweni, allegedly in cahoots to bribe a magistrate and facilitate murders. The charges stem from a tumultuous divorce initiated by Vicki requesting co-guardianship of their son, and R35000 for rehabilitative maintenance, marcating a bitter feud. Soon after, Terblanche deserted their marital home, initiating an affair with his ex-girlfriend, Krystal.

Court records reveal Terblanche sought primary custody of their child, alleging Vicki's inability as a mother due to her drug consumption. An inquiry pitched by the Gqeberha High Court concerning the custody of their son was yet to conclude.

Vicki was in a relationship with Leach during the first week of July 2021. The charge sheet paints Leach as a financially inadequate "man of straw," who moved in with Vicki and depended on her alleged fortune and illicit endeavors. In August of the same year, Vicki and Leach conspired to murder Terblanche with an assumption it would benefit Vicki amidst the impending divorce court rulings.
