Shafiq Nasser, a well-known Palestinian businessman, was brutally shot down in broad daylight by unknown assailants in Cape Town on Wednesday. Nasser, 38, business magnate and owner of Naser Constructions, was assaulted on the corner of Bosmansdam and Omuramba Roads, in close proximity to Montague Gardens.
It's reported that Nasser, having returned from abroad on Tuesday, was in transit to a scheduled business meeting on the fateful morning of the incident. Unnamed sources allege a dramatic shootout unfolded after two unidentified men on a motorbike targeted Nasser, who was said to have returned fire. The alarming altercation is estimated to have spanned a distance of over 500 metres.
Video evidence shows two men pausing at traffic lights adjacent to the victim's Mercedes G-Wagon. On green, they swiftly make a U-turn, circling the vehicle, before unleashing a hail of bullets. Gruesome details reveal Nasser succumbing to gunshot wounds to his head and cheek. Intriguingly, a considerable amount of cash was found in his possession at the time of the fatal shooting, leading investigators to infer he had visited a bank before the incident.
As of late Wednesday, investigations were ongoing, with no arrests reported. Further updates will be made as the story unfolds.
