Western Cape South African Police Services (SAPS) announced the apprehension of a 30-year-old suspect linked to the violent murder of a 29-year-old policewoman. The arrest has been hailed by the police community, still grappling with the shock rippling from the tragic incident.

Representative Novella Potelwa unveiled that the officer was stationed at the Samora Machel police unit of the SAPS.

The gruesome discovery of the constable's body was made in the early hours on Sunday, at Extension 4 Emfuleni in the Emfuleni informal settlement. Indications show that she and an associate had been visiting acquaintances in the vicinity when the fatal incident took place.

The case has escalated to higher law enforcement levels, with the Hawks leading an in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the policewoman's death. Potelwa's statement reflects the law enforcement's dedication to unveiling the depth of this heinous crime, in hopes of delivering justice and closure to the victim's family and colleagues.
