In a highly anticipated comeback, Handré Pollard will make his first Test appearance in 13 months when the Springboks face Tonga in their Rugby World Cup clash in Marseille this coming Sunday. This move comes as the Boks strive to reclaim their standing in Pool B following their defeat against Ireland in Paris last weekend.

Springboks Coach Jacques Nienaber has strategically selected a mix of experienced players, who are still getting back into form after recent injuries, and standout performers from the team's commanding 76-0 victory over Romania. This balance, showcasing player endurance and raw talent, symbolises the determination of the Boks to avoid another defeat.

The team, conscious of the 13-day gap they have between the upcoming pool match and potential quarterfinal on October 14, has placed lock Eben Etzebeth and captain Siya Kolisi in the starting line-up. Moreover, Duane Vermeulen will be seen in the No 7 jersey, partnering with Jasper Wiese and Kolisi this weekend. In the back row, fans will be excited to see Scrumhalf Cobus Reinach and wings Grant Williams and Makazole Mapimpi adding their signature flair to the game.

Pollard, the third-highest scorer in Springbok history, is expected to play a significant role, especially in the area of goal kicking where the team has faltered recently. "This is a physical team, which is exactly what we need against a motivated Tonga that plays with passion and force," said Nienaber.

Handré Pollard's return, marking a pivotal moment in the team's journey, has all eyes on the Springboks. They're not just aiming to win the match but also to reclaim their confidence and momentum on the World Cup stage.
