FF Plus Advocates for Systematic Clean-up of Crime-Corrupted SAPS

The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), a de facto guardian of constitutional rights in South Africa, has issued a stringent call to Police Minister Bheki Cele to enact a thorough reform of the South African Police Services (SAPS). The major concern fuelling the urgency for change is the high incidence of serious violent crimes, including murder, rape, and robbery, perpetrated by SAPS personnel.

Police Minister Cele confirmed these alarming details in a written Parliamentary response, revealing that roughly 7000 members of SAPS have faced criminal charges for such egregious offences over the past five years. Furthermore, the list stretches beyond these crimes to include trafficking, assault, theft, and extortion.

FF Plus leader, Pieter Groenewald, strongly admonished the police service's current predicament, advocating for immediate remedial action. According to Groenewald, the prompt elimination of these 'criminal elements' embedded in the police force is not only necessary but also overdue.

Groenewald went on to articulate that this rampant misconduct has severely tarnished the reputation of SAPS and strained public trust. The FF Plus leader concluded with an impassioned plea for drastic clean-up measures to restore honour and integrity to the police service, thus reigniting the public's faith in SAPS.
