Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth, is in the grip of a chilling disappearance case which has left a normally quiet community in a state of high alarm. A 32-year-old, Hugo Spamer, resident of Algoa Park, has conspicuously vanished, sparking immediate concern from his loved ones.
Spamer, a well-known local biker, was last recorded leaving his residence located in Keurboom Crescent on Wednesday morning at around 7:30 a.m., according to Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge. Spamer reportedly returned home momentarily to retrieve his motorcycle, a snazzy black Yamaha R1, before departing once more.
Spamer's subsequent movements were traced via surveillance footage to a petrol station in Cows Corner, which he visited shortly after midday. He is filmed calmly refuelling his bike and purchasing goods from the shop, with nothing anomalous detected in his demeanor or actions.
However, as daylight wore on, Spamer's continued absence began triggering alarm bells. Soon, his worried wife, unable to ignore the mounting dread, reported her husband missing to local law enforcement.
Police are appealing to locals or anyone with information that may furnish clues on Spamer's whereabouts. SAPS Algoa Park Detectives, led by Warrant Officer Zamikaya Khowa, can be reached at 063 081 1426. The hunt to locate Spamer is on, and everyone in the community is urged to stay vigilant and supportive in these earliest phases of the investigation.
