In a thrilling turn of events, the Western Cape Flying Squad, a key component of South African law enforcement, apprehended a 37-year-old suspect on Wednesday, following a thrilling high-speed chase in Kuils River. This subsequent arrest stemmed from the suspect losing control of a vehicle previously tagged as hijacked.

SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg stated that the Flying Squad members had been closely monitoring information pertaining to the hijacked vehicle, up until the point where they spotted it in Kuils River. Ignoring the squad's approach, the suspected driver initiated a high-speed chase, which eventually culminated in him losing control of the hijacked vehicle.

Amidst the chaos, two co-suspects unexpectedly fled the scene, leading the authorities on foot. A thorough inspection of the abandoned vehicle yielded an imitation firearm, modified to accommodate live rounds, complete with ammunition. Also discovered, was an assortment of jewellery and an unspecified amount of cash suspected to be stolen.

Authorities further sanctioned the errant driver for not just possessing a hijacked vehicle, but also for the illicit possession of a firearm and ammunition, committing robbery, and the presumed possession of stolen property. Once formally charged, the perpetrator is expected to face the full legal consequences of his actions in the Kuils River Magistrates’ Court.
