Both the South African men’s and women’s cricket teams faced a series of setbacks on Friday as they conceded defeat to their formidable competitors, Australia and Pakistan, respectively. These outcomes represent a rough patch in their competitive paths.

Australia continued to dominate in the KFCT20I series, securing a crucial win at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead stadium to place themselves up by 2-0 in a three-match series. The Proteas, who suffered a significant 111-run loss on Wednesday, were unable to recover in the ensuing match, losing by eight wickets due to a commanding performance from the visiting team. The third and final T20I is set to take place on Sunday, with the South African team vying for redemption.

In a parallel narrative, the Proteas Women concluded on a heartbreaking note at the National Stadium in Karachi on Friday. Pakistan secured a five-wicket win in a closely contested first match of the three T20 Internationals. The Proteas' Tazmin Brits delivered an admirable performance, signalling a beacon of hope for the team. Hitting a personal best score of 78 off 64 balls, Brits' extraordinary performance earned her the Player of the Match title. The second T20I is also set to take place this Sunday.

With these unsettling results, both South African teams must regroup and strategize as they gear up for their upcoming matches.
