SAPS Issues R100,000 Reward for Information on Makhaza Neighbourhood Watch Member’s Murder

In a disturbing incident unfolding in Makhaza, Khayelitsha, the local community has been rocked by the brutal murder of a 49-year-old neighbourhood watch member, Farrington Mkutshulwa. The crime, which took place late in the evening on January 17, 2025, has prompted the Western Cape Provincial detectives to offer a significant cash reward in an urgent call for public cooperation.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) was alerted to the incident around 23:30, following distress calls from the Ezimfeneni informal settlement, near Enkanini. Upon arrival, police discovered Mkutshulwa's body, bearing multiple gunshot wounds, and despite immediate medical attention, he was declared deceased at the scene. This tragic event has sparked an intense investigation spearheaded by the SAPS, desperate to uncover the motives behind the inexplicable violence that led to the death of a community protector.

In their pursuit of justice, SAPS has identified four unidentified men as persons of interest, believed to be connected to the fatal shooting. Detective Constable Sibusiso Manqindi, who is at the forefront of this investigation, urges anyone with potential leads to step forward.
