Tragic Fire Claims Lives in KZN: Three Confirmed Dead, One Missing

In a harrowing incident that took place on Eagle Road in Missionlands, Verulam, three people perished in a fire that swept through a furniture manufacturing business late on Friday night. The Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) was called in after family members and friends, in dire search of the four men who had not returned home, made a grim discovery. According to Prem Balram, spokesperson for Rusa, a search party glimpsing through the windows of the gutted building identified what they feared to be human remains amongst the charred structure.

Reacting to the call for help, paramedics were dispatched immediately to the scene and upon their arrival, it was confirmed that the remains were indeed human. The grim search continued, together with the Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services who subsequently located two additional bodies. The concerned authorities are still relentlessly searching for the fourth person, who at the time of reporting, remains unaccounted for.

It was revealed by the relatives of the deceased that there were nine Malawian nationals working the night shift when the disaster struck.
