Mpumalanga Educator Dismissed for Multiple Cases of Sexual Harassment

In a decisive move underscored by the necessity to protect students and uphold ethical conduct in education, a Mpumalanga teacher at Mabande Comprehensive High School in Emalahleni faced immediate dismissal following his guilty plea to sexual harassment charges levelled against him. Nkosinathi Msiza's inappropriate actions leading to charges involved five pupils and a female colleague, signaling a severe breach of the professional ethics required of educators.

According to the reported charges, Msiza engaged in a pattern of predatory behaviour that transgressed on multiple occasions. Of the documented incidents, one particularly grave case involved Msiza hugging, kissing, and touching a Grade 11 pupil intimately without consent. Similar incidents were recounted where another pupil was lured to the school during holidays and subjected to non-consensual physical contact.

Further compounding Msiza's misconduct, he was charged with brazen acts of solicitation for sexual favours, leveraging the authority of his position. The implications of such actions delivered severe emotional and psychological impacts on the victims, which will likely necessitate long-term support and intervention.

The Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) commissioner, Monde Boyce, emphasized the gravity of these allegations and the unacceptable, recurring nature of Msiza's violations.
