US Military Joins Relief Efforts in Earthquake-Stricken Japan

In the wake of a catastrophic earthquake that struck the Noto peninsula on Japan’s west coast, the United States military has committed to deploying its helicopters to bolster the hard-pressed Japanese relief efforts. Defense Minister Minoru Kihara announced the collaborative rescue mission, which commences on January 17, as the international community rallies around Japan during this time of crisis.

The calamity has left the Noto region in shambles with over 220 confirmed fatalities, establishing it as the most lethal seismic event Japan has endured since the Kumamoto earthquakes of 2016.
