Cape Town Officials Dismantle Illicit Alcohol Operations in Khayelitsha

The counterfeit nature of the stash suggests that the suspects were not simply trading without licenses but were allegedly involved in the manufacturing of fake alcohol products — an activity fraught with public health risks and legal violations.

Despite the successes of this sting, the South African Police Service (SAPS) has remained tight-lipped on the matter. Warrant officer Joseph Swartbooi steered all information queries to Dyason, who confirmed the arrest and charges laid against the duo. The suspects have been booked under the Liquor Act for multiple infractions, including dealing in liquor without a license and manufacturing alcohol without proper authorisations.

Both individuals tied to this unlawful distillery are now detained at the Harare police station, awaiting further legal proceedings.
