De Lille disclosed that sequel to the initial investment, an additional R27 million was allocated to the lodge by the Department of Tourism. Minister De Lille insisted on accountability for the total amount spent, lamenting the pervading lack of evidence leading to case closures and the absence of arrests despite reports of vandalism at the site.

In what is becoming a seemingly endless cycle, yet another contractor was welcomed onboard last week with a hefty R27.9 million contract slated to ultimately complete the project by October of the following year. As SCOPA members bore witness to the current state of dilapidation, the shock and dismay voiced by SCOPA Chairperson Job Dliso underscored the gravity of the situation. Compounding the issue, the lack of proper oversight and the disarray within the security services onsite call into question the effective management of the project beyond the immediate monetary concerns.
