Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 & Z Fold5: Incorporating Eco-conscious Materials for a Sustainable Future

Samsung's latest innovations, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5, mark a significant stride in their ongoing eco-conscious efforts. Featuring an unprecedented variety of recycled materials in both their internal and external components, these new smartphones are a clear commitment to environmental sustainability. Samsung has not only diversified the recycled materials used in its devices, but the company has also doubled the device components comprised of at least 10% post-consumer recycled plastic or pre-consumer recycled glass.

These recycled materials are present in 15 components of both the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5, a significant rise from six internal components in their predecessors. These advancements reflect Samsung's recognition of the growing global challenges, particularly environmental issues and the escalating climate crisis that threatens humanity’s sustainable future.

Through their Planet-First philosophy, Samsung uses technological innovations for the betterment of our planet and in the spirit of '“Everyday Sustainability”. The company emphasizes the use of Recycled Materials, Eco-Packaging, Energy Efficiency, and Recycling or Upcycling, across the product life cycle journey. This introduces consumers to four new ways of adopting sustainable living.

Samsung’s vibrant eco-conscious advances stretch across a range of Galaxy smartphone models including, the Galaxy S23 Series, the Galaxy Z Flip5, and the Z Fold5. These devices, made from recycled materials from discarded fishing nets, provide consumers with the opportunity to contribute positively to the environment simply by utilizing them.

Last year, the company utilized 33,000 tonnes of recycled plastic sourced from discarded electronic goods, fishing nets, and plastic bottles, making a cumulative total of 310,000 tonnes since 2009. The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 incorporation of recycled materials includes pre-consumer recycled glass and aluminium as well as post-consumer recycled plastics.

The packaging box for these devices is also made using 100 percent recycled material, reflecting the brand's unwavering commitment to sustainability. The company believes that technological innovation is instrumental in fostering a sustainable future, and it is taking responsibility to ensure that the Galaxy ecosystem contributes substantially towards preserving the planet for future generations.
